Root. Grow. Give!

Keeping a piece of Viroqua history alive, Thoreau’s Garden operates a small garden center, houseplant shop, floral business, and educational center for our local community, our mission is to inspire everyone to garden, grow medicine, and share the beauty of our natural world. Check out the Driftless Folk School website to find our workshops!

We are a small business going into our third season. We grow as many of our plants as we can from seeds and cuttings to reduce the “mileage” this also means you can let us know what you’d like to see growing, it also means we are not carrying trees or shrubs at this time.

Thoreau’s Garden Is A Social Enterprise Of Thoreau College

We offer a variety of houseplants year round, annuals, perennials, vegetable starts, herbs, medicinal, and native plants in the spring and summer, salad and micro greens in the winter, and more for our community. Come check out the shop!
